Seplaa's research Work with Women Entrepreneurs in Gilgit Baltistan SINCE 2018

Seplaa Foundation had been conducting research on the livelihoods of women in Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan since 2018.

In 2019, Seplaa Founder Dr. Ammara Farooq Malik was given the opportunity to conduct a research in Gilgit Baltistan with funding support from ICIMOD Nepal. The final research on ‘Social Entrepreneurship for Gendered Climate Action- (SEGCA)’ was based on primary research conducted with 105 women entrepreneurs based in Hunza, Gilgit, Sost, Nagar and Passu.

In 2022, Dr. Malik conducted follow up interviews with some of the Gilgit Baltistan based organizations she had interviewed earlier, for her final doctoral thesis titled ‘Sustainable Business Strategy for Social Enterprises in Developing Countries: A Focus on Impact Law, Policy & Gender for Climate Action’. The thesis was approved by the Business School Netherlands in 2022 conferring the doctorate on the Seplaa Canada CEO.
